About Us

Walschon Fire Protection, Inc. was founded in 1989 by George Walschon. George is a sprinkler fitter himself and has been in the industry since 1966. He and his wife, Dolores, started Walschon Fire Protection and have since expanded the company to almost 50 employees. We believe that being so involved in all of the working parts of the company is one of the reasons we have been successful in a competitive industry for the last two decades.

Our main office is located in San Carlos, California. We also have a small office and shop in San Jose, California. Walschon Fire Protection strives to maintain the family business atmosphere while still tackling large scale projects. Walschon has satisfied a very loyal customer base with their flexibility, creativity, and mobility.

We are hiring!

We are currently looking for a talented Fire Sprinkler Designer.

A Designer is responsible for producing design related documents to ensure the scope of the fire protection system is fully communicated to installation personnel at the assigned job site. 

 

Skills Required:

Must have 2 or more years of experience designing Fire Sprinkler systems using AutoCAD
NICET Certification preferred (or working towards NICET certification).
Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD software.

Job Description:

1. Review contract documents prior to Pre-Design Meeting and establish questions for clarification.

2. Participate in Pre-Design to provide input for job planning.

3. Establish, communicate and meet working drawing completion dates to adhere to fabrication schedule.

4. Prepare detailed working drawings in accordance with contract documents/scope of work. Obtain necessary design reviews from sales and management during design process.

5. Perform necessary communication and coordination with other trades to ensure accuracy of shop drawings.

6. Prepare anticipated material list to allow adequate procurement time.

7. Develop design schedule within the project schedule; to take advantage of overall windows of opportunity.

8. Prepare material submittals and secure approvals form required authorities.

9. Prepare drawing submittals and secure permits and approvals fro the required authorities.

10. Participate in Pre-Construction Meetings.

11. Monitor and manage the flow and cost of materials as necessary to maintain project schedule and budget.

12. Prepare and provide “as built” plans and design related close-out documents, as required by the contract documents.
